Lab Manager / Quality Manager
Role Summary
The Lab Manager / Quality Manager is responsible for supervising lab technicians, overseeing quality management systems, and ensuring compliance with ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in calibration methods, and the ability to liaise with accreditation bodies and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and train lab technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and quality improvement.
- Lead the ISO 17025 accreditation process and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Act as the Technical Manager for ISO 17025, ensuring that all calibration and testing procedures meet accreditation requirements.
- Develop, modify, verify, and validate calibration methods to enhance measurement accuracy and reliability.
- Oversee the analysis of results, including statements of conformity and interpretation of measurement data.
- Review, authorize, and co-sign calibration reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Handle complex customer complaints and delegate simpler ones to appropriate personnel.
- Select and request quotes for new laboratory equipment, ensuring suitability for measurement processes and compliance with industry standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for accreditation bodies, auditors, and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and compliance.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 5 years of university study in Engineering, Physics, Metrology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in ISO 9001 or ISO 17025 quality management systems.
- Strong understanding of measurement processes, calibration techniques, and laboratory instrumentation.
- Ability to train, mentor, and develop staff, fostering a high-performance laboratory environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for accuracy and detail.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage laboratory operations and external collaborations.
- Experience working with accreditation bodies, regulatory agencies, and external auditors.
- Proficiency in using laboratory management systems and calibration software.
