Shipping

Integrated shipping procedure for outgoing shipments from Analyt-MTC, including dangerous goods handling for devices containing lithium batteries.

Scope

This procedure covers all outgoing shipments from Analyt-MTC, including measuring instruments, spare parts, and accessories. It applies to shipments with and without batteries. When a shipment contains lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries, the dangerous goods requirements of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) apply and are integrated into the workflow.

All shipments are handled by DHL Express. Compliance with the IATA DGR for air transport automatically satisfies ADR requirements for road transport.

Authorized Personnel

Only personnel holding valid IATA DGR Category 7.1 (Shipper) and ADR Chapter 1.3 certifications may prepare and release dangerous goods shipments. Currently authorized personnel:

Name Certification Certified Recertification
Matthias Boularot IATA DGR 7.1 + ADR 1.3 2026-03-12 2028-03-31
Laura Joss IATA DGR 7.1 + ADR 1.3 2026-03-12 2028-03-31

Training records and certificates are maintained in each employee's personnel record. Authorization status is tracked in the authorization and competency matrix.

Battery Chemistries

Analyt-MTC ships devices containing four battery chemistries, each with different regulatory treatment:

Chemistry DGR Status Provision
Lithium-ion / Lithium-polymer Regulated (Class 9) PI965 Section IB, PI966/967 Section II
Nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) Not Restricted Special Provision A199
Sealed lead-acid Not Restricted Special Provision A67 (non-spillable)
Alkaline / NiCd Not Restricted Special Provision A123 (Batteries, dry)

All lithium-ion batteries shipped by Analyt-MTC have cells rated below 20 Wh and battery packs below 100 Wh. This places all Li-ion shipments in the lighter regulatory tiers (Section IB for standalone, Section II for packed with or contained in equipment), which do not require UN-certified packaging.
